Officer George Geisler was shot and killed by two brothers who were revenging the arrest of a third brother by Officer Geisler.

Officer Geisler had gone into a local soft drink saloon owned by William English at 2100 Clark Avenue when the two brothers, Robert and Thomas Creed, attacked him and pushed him into a back room. After beating him with their guns they shot him four times striking him twice in the chest and twice in the stomach. Officer Geisler staggered to the street and fell dead. The two men were apprehended hours later in a stolen car with Officer Geisler's gun still in their possession. They were both sentenced to life in their first trial, but won a second trial where, after waiting three years, they plead guilty and sentenced to 15 and ten years to second degree murder as one of the principal witnesses could not be located.

Officer Geisler had been wounded four years earlier in a shooting that claimed the life of fellow Officer Isaac Kidwell.

Officer Geisler had been with the agency for five years. After his death his wife, Tillie, was appointed as a policewoman. Interred: New St Marcus Cemetery.
