Officer Clyde Moore was killed in an accident while escorting a fire truck to the scene of a fire.

On August 1, 1930, Motorcycle Officer Moore was escorting a fire truck to the scene of a fire when his path was blocked by a stopped streetcar and a parked car at 1368 N. Grant. Officer Moore drove his Harley Davidson police motorcycle over the curb to avoid striking the vehicles but was thrown from the motorcycle and struck his head against a utility pole. Officer Moore was taken to St John's Hospital where he was pronounced dead from his injuries including a fractured neck.

Officer Moore's motorcycle was restored and put on display in the department's museum. Officer Moore had been with the agency for eight months and was one of eight motorcycle officers on the department with a total complement of 53. He portrayed a motorcycle officer in the filming of a movie, "Our American Girl," shown in theaters the week prior to his death. He was survived by his parents, Isaac and Grace Moore and seven brothers and sisters.
