Correctional Officer Walter Farrow was stabbed to death in the prison commissary at the Missouri State Penitentiary in Jefferson City, Missouri. An inmate stabbed Officer Farrow in the stomach, was chased away by another inmate before being captured in the recreation yard. Officer Farrow died a short time after the assault. Guard Clinton Wyrick was also stabbed but survived his injuries.
Officer Farrow had served with the Missouri Department of Corrections for 15 years and was scheduled to retire in four months. He was survived by his wife and nine children.
