On February 16, 2001, Sergeant Robert Guilliams was fatally injured in an auto accident.

Sergeant Robert Guilliams was responding to an accident call on I-55 in Pemiscot County in the early morning hours when his cruiser hydroplaned and struck a bridge abutment.

Sergeant Guilliams was an Air Force veteran and had been employed with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for 17 years. He was survived by his wife and two young children. Interred: Elmwood Cemetery, Blytheville, Arkansas.
