Sergeant Randy Sullivan was driving his patrol cruiser when he was killed in an automobile accident.
On February 17, 1996, Sergeant Randy Sullivan was attempting to catch up a with a speeding vehicle 8 miles west of Fredricktown on Missouri 72 when his vehicle crested a rise and failed to negotiate a curve, struck several trees and burst into flames. Troopers found a passenger from the cruiser, a recruit with minor injuries, outside the vehicle. Sergeant Sullivan's body was found in the vehicle.
Sergeant Sullivan served with the Highway Patrol for 17 years in Troop E at Poplar Bluff. He was survived by his wife, Brenda, and three sons. Interred: Marcus Memorial Cemetery.
