Trooper Michael Webster was struck and killed by another vehicle while on a traffic stop.
On October 2, 1993 at approximately 3:00 am, Trooper Michael Webster was speaking to the driver of a vehicle he had pulled over on Highway 40 in Blue Springs, Missouri when a passing vehicle struck his police cruiser, then the stopped vehicle and Trooper Webster. Trooper Webster was flown to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at 1905 hours.
The 21-year-old driver was convicted of second degree assault, drunk driving, and sentenced to 7 years.
Trooper Webster had served with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for 9 years. He is survived by his wife and three children.
