Officer Charles Massey was fatally injured when he lost control of his patrol car enroute to an emergency call.
On November 24. 1975, Officer Massey was killed when he lost control of his patrol car, at 86th and Troost, while responding to a prowler call. His car skidded across four lanes of traffic and was struck by a station wagon. The patrol car was hit on it's side and flipped, trapping Officer Massey inside. It took over thirty minutes to extract Officer Massey from the car. He died from his injuries at the scene.
Officer Massey had been with the Kansas City Police Department for 19 months, joining the department April 1, 1974. He and was survived by his wife and son. Interred: Forest Hill Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
