Officer Larry Oliver sustained fatal injuries in a vehicular on his police motorcycle.
On April 18, 1968, Officer Oliver was pursuing a speeding suspect on 12th Street in the West Bottoms and lost control of his motorcycle while trying to avoid a car. Officer Oliver became pinned between a guard rail and a brick building at the corner of 12th and Genessee. Officer Oliver was transported to Menorah Hospital where he died of his injuries.
Officer Oliver had been with the Kansas City Police Department for nine years and was survived by his son. Interred: Glenwood Cemetery, Glen Elder, Kansas.
