Officer Kincaid was injured in a fall in the street while chasing several youths who had been throwing stones at a Kansas City Railways bus. He died 2 weeks later, on May 16, 1926, at home from his injuries.

Officer Kincaid was previously seriously injured in 1909 when he was run down by a runaway horse and carriage.

Officer Kincaid, 62, was with the police department for 31 years, being appointed as an officer on May 4, 1895, and was survived by his wife, Mary Ellen Kincaid, daughter, Grace, and brothers, Charles and William. Parents: Rolin & Mary Kincaid. Interred: Mount Moriah Cemetery, Kansas City, Missouri.
