Officer Raymond Endicott was injured when he lost control of his motorcycle while on patrol.
October 7, 1949, Officer Endicott was following a vehicle at 11th and Rangeline Road when another car turned left and as Endicott braked suddenly he was thrown over the front of his motorcycle onto the pavement. He was taken to St. John's Hospital with a basal skull fracture. He died the next morning at 9:30 am. He was riding the police motorcycle due to one of the regular motor officers being on sick leave
Officer Endicott joined the department in 1943, left to serve in WWII and rejoined the department in September 1948 and April 1949. He was survived by his wife, Vera, son and daughter. Interred: Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery, Joplin, MO.
