Sergeant Robert Guilliams was killed in an accident while he was responding to another accident call on I-55 in Pemiscot County in the early morning hours.
During his response, his cruiser hydroplaned and struck a bridge abutment.
Sergeant Guilliams had been employed with the Missouri State Highway Patrol for 17 years, and is survived by his wife and two young children.

Chief Deputy Nathan Murphy was killed when his cruiser was struck head-on by a vehicle being pursued by other officers.
A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper had attempted to stop the vehicle for a traffic violation when the suspect driver failed to yield. The trooper requested assistance from the Oregon County Sheriff's Department and Chief Deputy Murphy answered the call.
After leading the officers down several gravel roads, the suspect rammed head on into Chief Deputy Murphy's cruiser.
Chief Deputy Murphy was flown to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries approximately two hours later. The suspect was also injured in the collision.
The Oregon County Sheriff's Department has a total of five officers. Chief Deputy Murphy had been employed with the Oregon County Sheriff's Department for eight years after serving as chief in another agency.
Chief Deputy Murphy is survived by his wife and family. |

Officer Terry Foster was shot and killed after responding to a domestic disturbance call.
An elderly couple had called police to report their grown son was threatening them and acting violent. When officers arrived, the suspect locked himself in an upstairs bedroom. After talking with the suspect, the officers forced the hallway door open and began to check a bedroom when the suspect opened fire, striking Officer Foster in the head and chest several times. Other officers dragged Officer Foster out of the home and held their positions when an explosion ripped through the bedroom, completely engulfing the house. The suspect's body was later found inside.
Officer Foster had been employed with the Independence Police Department for 32 years, and was only three weeks from retirement.
He is survived by his wife of one year and several adult children. |

Chief James Dacy was accidentally shot and killed when his shotgun discharged as he attempted to retrieve it from his trunk.
The incident occurred when he responded to a call about a stray dog in a local cemetery. The shotgun, which was stored in a protective sleeve, discharged while it was still in the bag as he was bent over pulling it from the trunk. The trigger had caught on another item in the trunk as he was pulling it out. The blast struck Chief Dacy in the chest, killing him.
Chief Dacy, pictured with his daughter, had served in law enforcement for 31 years and had been chief of his agency for six years.
Chief Dacy's brother, John Dacy, was shot and killed while acting in the line of duty in 1969 while serving as a member of the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department. |

Deputy Sheriff Steven Ziegler succumbed to injuries sustained in a traffic accident.
A trailer became detached from a vehicle that was towing it. It crossed the median and struck Deputy Sheriff Ziegler's oncoming patrol car. He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries one day later.
Deputy Sheriff Ziegler had served with the agency for 9 years. He is survived by his wife, four children, parents, and siblings. |
