Deputy Michael Triplett was killed in a traffic accident while responding to a domestic violence call.

Deputy Triplett was traveling southbound on Highway U on his way to Irondale on a domestic violence call. As he crested a hill near Yonker Road on the winding, tree lined, two-lane road, he veered off the highway as he rounded a sharp curve. His 2005 Crown Victoria struck s top sign and two trees, then skidded into a dirt embankment on the right side of the road. His patrol car overturned and trapped him inside requiring him to be cut out of the vehicle. Deputy Triplett died on his way to St Louis University Hospital.

Deputy Triplett joined the sheriff's department in 2005 after completing his law enforcement training at Mineral Area College in Park Hills. He was hired by the Mineral Area College as a full time police officer in January but continued to work part-time for the sheriff's department. He was survived by his wife. Interred: Dogwood Cemetery Dogwood, MO.
