Deputy Constable George Adams was shot and killed during an ambush

On April 4, 1934, Deputy Adams was driving on Natural Bridge Road 1 1/2 miles west of Lindberg Boulevard near the airport when he was forced to the side of the road by an automobile car. A second automobile pulled up and boxed Deputy Adams in. As he got out of his patrol car to investigate, one or two suspects from the front automobile shot Deputy Adams twice in the chest. Deputy Adams was found dying beside the road by the driver of a St. Charles bound motorbus. He died at about 2:00 pm as he was being loaded onto the bus without making a statement. Deputy Adams with his sawed-off single-barreled shotgun lying unloaded beside him and his revolver was still in his holster.

Deputy Adams served as a deputy constable for 8 years. He was survived by his wife, Dorothy, and his son on his second birthday. He served as a sergeant in the Army. He was the son of George H. and Nannie Adams. Interred: Farber Cemetery.
