Officer Stephen Strehl was killed in a helicopter crash.

Officer Stephen Strehl was assigned to a DEA task force and was on drug surveillance in Jefferson County. He was riding shotgun in a two-seat DEA helicopter at 3:45 a.m. when it plunged 500 feet and smashed into trees three miles south of Antonia in a hilly, wooded area between Briarwood Lane and Moss Hollow Road. The helicopter rolled onto Officer Strehl.

Officer Strehl, 35, was a 14-year veteran of the department. He was survived by his wife and three sons. Interred: Mt Lebanon Cemetery, Saint Ann, Missouri.
