Officer Paul Meyer of the Traffic Division was killed in an automobile accident at Kingshighway and Columbia as he and his partner, Officer Thomas Chopliske, responded to a robbery at an oil filling station on South Kingshighway and Potomac Street. While driving on South Kingshighway Boulevard a vehicle turning left struck their patrol car at Columbia Avenue. The impact pushed the left front of the patrol car into an oncoming, northbound streetcar and both officers were ejected. The police car continued on, struck another car and was completely demolished. Officer Meyer was found at the left rear of the streetcar with his head against the wheel housing. He had sustained a compound, depressed fracture of the skull. He died about eight hours later. Officer Chopliske sustained abrasions and contusions and recovered from his injuries.

Officer Meyer had been with the agency for two years joining in 1926. Interred: Valhalla Cemetery.
