Officer Bradley Arn was shot and killed responding to a party armed call.

On November 10, 1998, Officer Arn responded on a call for a party armed involving a man walking down the street firing an assault rifle. Officer Arn was the first officer on the scene and found the man standing over a retaining wall at the side of the Cavalry Baptist Church at the intersection of 22nd and Calhoun Streets. The second shot struck Officer Arn in the right arm and the left elbow. The next shot was a fatal wound to the back of Officer Arn's head. Officer Arn's patrol car swerved to the left and crashed into boats parked in a lot on the west side of 22nd Street. The gunman fired four more times into the patrol car. As other officers arrived on the scene the suspect continued to fire before he was struck down by a shot from Sergeant Miller. The suspect wounded four citizens before shooting Officer Arn and fired 280 rounds of ammunition as he walked down the street and was still in possession of 300 more rounds when he was finally taken down.

Officer Arn served six-years with St. Joseph Police Department and served as a Marine in Operation Desert Storm.
