Deputy Sheriff Steven Ziegler succumbed to injuries sustained in a traffic accident.

On September 29, 2001 at shortly before 8:00 am, Deputy Sheriff Ziegler was driving on Highway 67 near Highway 32 in Leadington. A trailer became seperated from an oncoming car and struck Deputy Ziegler's patrol car. He was taken to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries the next day, on Sunday, September 30th at 8:15 am at St John's Mercy Medical Center, Creve Cour.

Deputy Sheriff Ziegler had served with the sheriff's department for 9 years. He is survived by his wife, four children, parents, and siblings.
