Deputy Sisk was shot and killed while attempting to serve a warrant on a 64 year old eccentric gunsmith in Richmond, Missouri for assaulting his housekeeper and her 6 year-old daughter.

On April 9, 1938 at 6:30 pm, Deputy Sisk and Sheriff Perdue responded to the suspect's residence. The suspect refused arrest and when Deputy Sisk entered the front door he was struck with a 12-gauge shotgun blast to his chest and he fell dead on the floor of the front porch. The suspect barricaded himself in his home and shot it out with officers for more than two hours as he had an arsenal in his home. He was finally killed by Richmond Night Watchman John Denton after tear gas, fire, and dynamite were used to end the standoff.

Deputy Sisk served with the sheriff's department for 3 years. He was survived by his wife, Mira. Interred: Masonic Cemetery, Excelsior Springs, MO.
