Patrolman Cisco was shot and killed while making his nightly rounds. He was checking a door to the rear of the Casteel Brothers Department Store when he shined his light into the store and saw a man with his arms full of merchandise. He broke the glass in the back door of the store when he was met by gunfire passing through the door. Despite being wounded a dozen times he dragged himself to the A.C. Kelly Drug Store to get help. Officer Cisco succumbed to his wounds the next day that included two gunshot wounds in the body, two in the left arm and two in the legs. All three suspects, Charles Bryant, Byrd Jones, and Frank Rollins were apprehended the next day.

Frank Rollins was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to life in prison on September 17, 1914. Byrd Jones was also convicted of murder and given life in prison. Charles Bryant was the last to be tried, plead guilty and was given 15 years in prison on February 9, 1915.

Officer Cisco was survived by his wife, Nettie. Interred: Princeton Cemetery.
