Deputy Brad Mabee was killed in an accident after striking a tree on Route P, five miles north of Halfway where his vehicle slid sideways running off of the left side of the roadway, striking a tree on the driver's side of the vehicle. He was airlifted to Springfield Cox Medical Center South and died two hours later. His vehicle's emergency lights were on indicating that he may have been attempting to catch up with a speeder.

Deputy Mabee was survived by his expectant wife. Interred: Lockwood Cemetery, Lockwood, MO.
