Officer Frank Stevens sustained fatal injuries in a fall while recovering from injuries sustained while he was dragged by a car when directing traffic.
Officer Frank Stevens sustained a broken shoulder when his glove caught on a door handle while he was directing traffic at 12th and Main Streets on New Years Eve 1936. On January 4, 1936, Officer Stevens became dizzy and ruptured his spleen in a fall down some stairs while in a store at 909 Main Street. He was taken to Menorah Hospital where where he sustained treatment including blood transfusions from fellow officers. He ultimately died from the combination of his injuries on January 9, 1936.
Officer Stevens, 48, was with the Kansas City Police Department for twelve years and was assigned to the Traffic Unit in 1931. He was survived by his wife, Susie. Interment: Mt. Washington Cemetery.
