Officer Isaac Fenno was shot and killed while attempting to arrest a suspect for assault.

On April 22, 1919, at approximately 11:00 pm, Officer Fenno, who was on duty near the Ashland Theater, was given information from a twelve year-old boy that he had been at a park at 22nd and Elmwood where a suspect had slapped him and threatened him with a revolver. Officer Fenno made his way to the park and confronted the suspect. Officer Fenno saw that the suspect had a handgun in his belt. The suspect fled but stopped when Officer Fenno fired his weapon. Officer Fenno approached and attempted to disarm the suspect and during the ensuing struggle the suspect disarmed Officer Fenno, pressed Officer Fenno's revolver to his side and fired. The bullet entered Officer Fenno's body above the hip, passed through his body and lodged in his leather holster that had carried the weapon. The suspect fled the scene. Officer Fenno died from his wounds on the operating table at General Hospital at 1:00 am on April 23, 1919.

The suspect was identified as Carlo Farro by police. Officer Fenno's revolver was located in a hotel room the suspect shared with his uncle but the suspect had absconded.

Officer Fenno was survived by his wife, Martha. Interred: Elmwood Cemetery.
