Constable Wallace Caudle was struck by a vehicle as he was directing traffic for another vehicular.

Constable Caudle was called to a traffic accident on Highway 61, 1/2 mile north of Beck, near Rock Township. While directing traffic and assisting a member of the Highway Patrol he was struck by a brewery truck that blew through a line of cars and dragged him on the pavement for 200 feet. He was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis where he died of his injuries two days later.

Constable Caudle was in his first term as constable after previously running an unsuccessful campaign for sheriff. He was a WWI veteran having served in France. He was survived by his wife, Augusta and two daughters and two step-sons. Constable Caudle operated a large restaurant and gas station in addition to his duties as constable. Interred: Rauschenbach Cemetery, Imperial, Missouri.
