Auxiliary Officer Edward Sullivan was struck and killed as he was assisting another officer investigate an earlier accident near Hudson and West Florissant in Dellwood, Missouri.

Officer Sullivan and Officer Centiempo were investigating a call for a car striking a pole at Hudson and West Florissant. Officer Sullivan went to retrieve a first aid kit for the driver and was at the rear of the car when he and the patrol car were struck by a vehicle. Officer Sullivan died later at Christian Hospital Northwest, and the suspect was arrested and booked for driving while intoxicated and manslaughter. The suspect pled guilty to manslaughter and was given a suspended sentence and five years on probation. Interred: Calvary Cemetery and Mausoleum, Saint Louis, MO.
